Vancouver

Vancouver is awesome! Of course I knew we would have a good time when the guy on the airplane told me I looked like a girl from Battlestar Galatica! I have absolutely no idea who that is or what Battlestar Galatica is but it's so outrageous I knew we were in for a fun weekend. We met up with three other Alcon couples (Jake M even joined in one night) and we had the best time being tourists (roaming the streets, taking a gondola ride up the mountain, driving to Whistler and just enjoying the city). As per usual we didn't get a picture of all eight of us but here's the best I could do. Keep in mind I did spare you guys the pictures of the girls dancing...although some of you (okay all of you) would have a good laugh at it.

Weekend with Grandparents

While some of you may have been wondering why I haven't undated the blog in several days it's because Brian and I headed to Vancouver for the weekend while Kendal stayed at Grammie and Granpa's house. Unfortunately my parent's camera broke (that's another story, I wouldn't bring it up) and Brian and I took the camera they didn't have the opportunity to capture a lot of photos. However, I can guarentee she had the best time at "camp" and it is going to be hard for her to come home. Here are a few from yesterday and today.

What She's Doing Now - July

Okay here's Kendal's 17 1/2 month update...

Kendal is currently fascinated with....coloring, she wants to do it all the time - she’ll say…color, color, color

She loves to say...watch, again, bubbles, be nice (she is really starting to put two words together, it is so cool)

She recently did something so funny/cute when she...Feeds the dogs 2-3 kernels at a time, it takes her forever going back and forth from the dog food to the dog’s bowl but she likes it.

The personality trait I see beginning to develop that is rather new is...Her saying "NO"! She’ll say "no" just to say "no" and it’s very clear.

Her favorite toy of the moment is...her stroller and car; basically anything she can push herself.

I can occupy her easy by...I can't, still !!!!!!

Kendal's favorite time of day is...after she gets up from her nap, she's so perky!

When Kendal is in a bad mood, she...Kicks her legs, screams and says "NO"!

She melts my heart when...I ask her to put something away and she does because she understands me and of course when she says…love you!

Take my picture

The Terrible Twos!

Whoever said that the terrible twos comes at two LIED and whoever said it’s not that bad is also LYING!!! I am taking into account that Kendal is quite stubborn (and her disposition is sooo happy) but she is just shy of 18 months and she has started the “NOs” like its nobody’s business. I tell you working was easier. At least with work you go, do your job, get paid and you go home. Not with kids…you do everything you think you’re supposed to do, it backfires, the kids get frustrated, you get frustrated, and everyone is exhausted and all while keeping the house in check with NO PAY! I am remembering what I read a life coach’s advice…“Accept that tantrums are a way for your child to release emotion and that they’re a normal part of child development. Try to remain calm. “ Well I invite Cassani Adams to my house for a little visit. Remember we had the Lactation Consultant walk out on me (and never came back may I add) because she couldn’t get Kendal to latch on and she was frustrated – doesn’t she get paid to teach?! Anyway, am I crazy for wanting more kids? Yes, but it’s all worth it!

Highway

Believe it or not the long awaited opening of the highway is here, officially opening last night. I know that doesn't mean much to anyone who has never seen our house but if you can picture a six lane highway "1/4" mile away from our house than you can picture it. Amazingly you can't really hear the cars (well as much as I thought you would) when you're standing on our balcony but it is only the first day it has been open...however, I am going to keep telling myself that it really isn't that bad. Anyway, since I am obviously starting out the blog with the story of a highway I guess I don't really have much to add today, Brian took the camera so I snapped some quick photos this morning before he left.

Who said these glasses wouldn't come in handy after Kelly's wedding shower?!?!?!

Jeep

I will update a little more later but here is the only picture I got from the weekend (daddy was excited...it is now our screensaver).

Birthday

Kendal loved carrying around this fish Birthday balloon!

Well I have to admit that yesterday was the official marking of my last year in my 20's (a sad and sober moment) but it was a great day. I had a good coffee, went to lunch with a friend and then we tried on diamonds at the jewelry store (and I thought, what's better?...nothing...but then my friend reminded me that actually buying the diamonds is better - oh yea of course), then Brian took me and Kendal out to dinner. Even though we did not get birthday cake/ice cream last night I have had 2 Dairy Queen blizzards, a mud pie and a Choclate Cake Lover's cake in the last 3 days (let's hope this is not an indication of what my 30's will be like). Thank you all for your birthday wishes and cards, I really appreciate it.

Here's a video of Kendal seeing the balloon from across the room (she was busy carrying balloons around all day yesterday. Sorry it's a little shaky)

Shannon and sweet Reese, don't be fooled...Brody and Royce are planning their next move.
How come the dogs are on the other side of the gate?

Royce is such a poser.

I see a gymnast already!

Visiting Grumpy

Does this face look like mischief or is it just me???

Okay I somewhat captured Kendal going in and out of Grumpy's crate, it's not the best but you get the idea (Grumpy was probably wondering what the heck Kendal was doing...she proceeded with the toy horse).

Get You

I just can't take any more calls today, it's so hard being me!

Kendal has a new favorite game. You see it started by us chasing after her and saying…”I’m gonna get you.” She runs around, we chase her and she thinks it's hilarious. We’ll she’s figured out she can instigate it by coming over, looking at us, and saying “get you” and she runs around waiting for you to chase her, roaring with laughter. Needless to say she never tires of this and she still thinks it’s just as funny as it was the first time we did it.

Today

Kendal is usually always carrying around her baby but today she couldn't decide which one. BTW-she does have pants on but you can't tell, they're bloomers that match the outfit.
Daddy came home today, here's what I caught him teaching her.

Too funny

Here are a few pictures from today, her "Nana K" and "Granda T" gave her this sweet outfit.

Kendal seems to be picking up more and more everyday. Earlier today she ran up to me so I said "hey you" she immediately responded, "hey you." Then tonight as we were leaving the gym I said "thanks guys" to the girls who were watching her, Kendal quickly came back with, "thanks guys."
We are watching our neighbor's dog Grumpy while they are in Coronado (I know so jealous). Kendal and I like to go over there to hang out with him so he isn't lonely. As the routine goes we go over there in the morning and at night and play with him for a little. I always ask if she wants to go see Grumpy and she always responds "yes, Grumpy." So, tonight I let him in and she goes over to his crate (where he sleeps) and she says "Grumpies" next she proceeds to get in the create, sit down and close the gate behind her looking out at me. She did this over and over again and let me tell you - I had a hard time getting her out of there - if only I had the camera.

Weekend

The looong weekend is sadly coming to an end. It was nice having us all here for some quality family time and boy did we do a lot of relaxing. I have to admit the closet we got to seeing the fireworks was on our balcony and in bed in front of the TV (we must be parents). We did have a birthday party to go to (Brian was a huge hit as the swing pusher) and today we went to the Diamondbacks game, Kendal enjoyed both immensely.

Swimming

Today Melora, Peyton and Cooper along with Myra, Mady, Skylar and Baylee came over to swim. Go Cooper for being the only boy with all those ladies!

Starbucks

Kendal and I are trying to turn Starbucks losing profits around so they don't have to cut 12,000 jobs and close as many as 600 stores.

Today

Another day is down and as I recap the day I must say Kendal is probably exhausted. This morning Twinks wanted to "ride" the clay bunny in the entryway (see above) despite her looking tired in the photo she didn't stop there because after that she picked up a new trick...to take the cover out from the vegetable drawer in the refrigerator and put it over her head and laugh. Surprisingly she doesn't get tired of this trick but I do have to tell her "no more" because the refrigerator needs to cool back down, it is quite something and she never forgets where that darn red cover is! We also went to playgroup today at a place called, Toy Town, it's perfect because she gets to play with a million toys and you just them wonder for hours (but don't dare stop them to eat). Eventually we ended up at the gym and then a bubble bath (which is also what she wants these days as she stands at the tub while it's filling up and says, "bubbles" and then goes to the cabinet where the bubbles are and waits for you to get them out).

Plying with the vegetable cover
You will notice in the video that she says, "Cheese" because she thinks I am taking her picture.

Comments

Okay so I think I changed it so that anyone can comment, try it out and we'll see how my technical skills are!
