What She's Doing Now

August 2008 (18 1/2 months)

Kendal is currently fascinated with....jumping, she wants to jump on everything…the couch, the bed and even the floor.

She loves to say... “I dropped it” (when she drops something) and “up the stairs” (when she wants to go up or down the stairs).

She recently did something so funny/cute when she...crosses her arms and frowns. It’s not always so cute but sometimes it’s really hard not to laugh.

The personality trait I see beginning to develop that is rather new is...her testing me, I’ll say no and she’ll look at me to see if I’m going to do something about it. I also see her understanding what I’m saying (I’ll say Kendal, where’s my shoes and she’ll go find them and bring them to me). She really tries to communicate with me and if I don’t understand what she is saying she’ll look at me and keep repeating her sentence until I give a reaction.

Her favorite toy of the moment is...jumping castle that a friend had, she also really likes her Curious George right now and her barn where she can put the blocks in the slots (and of course the animals).

I can occupy her easy by...???

Kendal's favorite time of day is...after she gets up from her nap, she's so perky! When Kendal is in a bad mood, she...Kicks her legs, screams and says “NO”!

She melts my heart when...I say, “I love you” and she says, “love you” back at me.

Monkey

Kendal carrying around her monkey..."hi monkey" (please disregard the vacuum in the background). In case you couldn't tell, she was busy that day!

REK and DMB

Kendal with Grammie and Grandpa
Brian and I were lucky enough to have Grammie and Granpa spend the night with Kendal. My parents got tickets for Brian's birthday to see Robert Earl Keen and Dave Matthews so we took advantage, rented a hotel and had fun for a day and night (we even saw a movie)!
Brian is off again this week and when you ask Kendal where daddy is she says, "at the office." It's hilarious. When she got up from her nap this afternoon I asked her how her nap was and she said, "it was good." The things she says just makes me laugh, she a character.

Heavy Bunny

Kendal was working so hard to move the bunnies. Then she decided to go "up the stairs" which is what she says in the video.

Sparkly shoes

Despite the sparkly shoes being too big, Kendal wanted to wear these all day!

Cups

Apparently the cups are just the right height for Kendal (this isn't the most exciting video but it is funny becuase she always goes in the pantry and moves the cups around). Notice she didn't allow me to dress her yet but she does have her new tennis shoes on (they make her run fast)!!!

Weekend

Okay see this cross over arm look? Well, this is what Kendal does when she says "NO". From an outsider's perspective it's pretty funny (I admit I have to hold back the laughter sometimes) but this is her standard move when she gets fired up! Surprisingly it is not usually accompanied with a smile, ha ha.
We went to a 1st Birthday party this weekend but Kendal did not want to get her face/arm painted so of course mommy ended up with it instead. However, she did enjoy playing with her friends and listening to Mother Goose (hard to believe she was actually there but she was. Dang, I should've taken a picture).

And my last and final note...why is it that when it's finally daddy time, the kiddos nap the whole time - unbelievable.

18 Month Check-up

Anyone want to pull the wagon?

Here is a picture from yesterday, I didn't get any today

Kendal had her 18 month check-up and all is well. I sat down with the Dr. and we went over a few things then he wants to take a look at her so in between he says, "I hear her babbling, does she talk a lot", are you kidding me...Is the Pope Catholic? I tell him she knows more than 150+ words and she's even stringing 2-3 words/phrases together. Of course he said it was a lot and was very impressed. He also wants to know if she is drawing, again stupid question it's one of her favorite things to do...color, color, color. I also tell him that she can recognize certain shapes (okay only hearts and circles) but I can tell he's tuned me out but as the proud mother I keep talking anyway. As she's always been on the petite side she weighs in the 25% percentile for weight. I forgot to ask the height and head circumference darn it all but he says she's growing proportionally. Yea for Kendal.

Unfortuanately I forgot to take pictures and when I finally realized it I got some really cute ones of Kendal but accidentely deleted them, nice.

San Diego Trip

Bikini Babe

At Sea World

Playing in the sand with Grandpa

What's not to love about San Diego?!?!?! After spending four days in what most people call a slice of paradise we returned home to the good ol' desert. We had so much fun in San Diego, we went to Sea World, the Scripps Aquarium, and the beach (just to name a few). Kendal of course loved all the animals (including the shows) and I think she's already becoming a surfer girl...now she just needs her surf board!!!

Chatter

It seems that Kendal is quite the chatterbox these days (well, she always has been). Since she is now 18 months I thought I would post all the words that she knows but I'm sure I'm missing a few. She is really getting good at putting two plus words together and Grammie and Grandpa swear she put four words together, of course it happened to be the phrase...."I don't want that". Lately we've been working on spelling her name and learning/memorizing her numbers - tonight I heard her say 7, 8, 9 three separate times in a row.
