I give up!

Disclaimer - this video is not the most entertaining but more typical of everyday. The videographer is not responsible for those who get sick.

Good things

Since I wanted to forget that whole picture experience I neglected to update the blog but there were actually some positive things that did happen in the last week.

1)I got another Kendal and Beckett picture (ok so I gave him a pretzel right before, oops)
2) I love watching Kendal push her trucks (those are monster trucks inside the big truck) around in her dress, it just makes me laugh at her interest in things. Yesterday while having breakfast together I asked her if she dreamt about anything she said, "I dreamt about Monster Trucks" and tonight she said she was going to dream about Monster Mutt and Batman.

3) Kendal has really been wanting to do everything herself with no help from us. I love her determination and her individuality (unfortunately it does come back to haunt me - after all she is 3). One example is picking out her clothes, it makes for some interesting outfits...

Oh and in this picture taken right before getting in the car on the way to school she said, "I'm going to take My Little big Pony."

Yep, that's a velvet dress from Christmas...last year. She was probably sweltering all day but she never complained. Did I mention she wore the same dress to a friend's party a couple nights before but that night she wore the pink bunny ears too.

4) Brian took the kids on another train ride through the mall.

5) I love watching him grow and explore, he learns so much every day!

I know better

In theory it should have worked. Baby is born, you take pictures, baby gets bigger, you take pictures....I was all prepared until baby got bigger faster and I didn't take pictures. In an effort to make up for lost time I quickly booked a photo session with a place that has backdrops on wheels. Here's how the the morning went:

- everyone dressed, left the house
- arrive at photo session...poop in pants (even got a little on the onesie but it's ok, it's in back no one will see it), big wet frontal area, rapid change (we are quickly approaching our appointment time)
- get unloaded (2 bags, 2 change of clothes, snacks, water, bottle - check), go inside
- wrong location, load back up
- leave location #1, go wrong direction (we are definitely passing appointment time now but pants need to dry anyway)
- finally arrive at right location, appt time doesn't matter, they are running late...it's spring break and everyone else is there taking their picture
- wait 20+ minutes (don't they know we are approaching lunch and nap time, I keep feeding and moving but I am not leaving afterall I've done to get here), finally get called back
- Kendal does great, Beck gets scared and cries
- take approximately 8 pictures total. Got 1 good one of Kendal but it's so close you can't even tell what she's wearing. 1 ok picture of Beck and Kendal and a picture of Beck where he looks like a combination of scared, about to cry and drool on his shirt.

What in the world made me think I would have time to change their clothes, did I have a brain lapse?! I know better!!! All the planning and effort it took just to get to the place obviously didn't matter by the time we took the pictures. Oh well, there's always next year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

While a lot can be said about this photo let's just focus on the color of the pool. No, we did not dye it for St. Patrick's Day but that sounds a lot cooler. Unfortunately a part is broken and none of the 3 pool stores that Brian went to stocked the part. So I continue to watch the pool get greener and greener until the piece is fixed. Nevertheless it will not be green for long so c'mon over die hard Irish fans and take a dip.

Both of the kids started out in green and Beck actually managed to not get his shirt too messy. Kendal however changed at least 3 times today (I even had to tell her she could only try on 1 more dress because we had to go - the other ones didn't twirl enough), can you believe it starts so young...she's 3?!

Playdate

Kendal had a playdate today with Ava, a girl from school. I think they had the most fun trying on Kendal's shoes (and pretty princess dresses), I think they tried on every pair in her closet! See Aunt Sarah even Ave likes the turtles.

My Brother/My Sister

Not much new to report but perhaps the best news of the weekend is official, we have renters!!! The family moved in over the weekend and seem very nice, I wonder how they'll take it when we tell them we live next door - hmmmm...

Amazingly I have managed to take a few pics of the kiddos together.
Unfortunately we have misplaced the Cinderella gloves that came with the Cinderella dress but luckily Grammie bought another pair. Even though Kendal keeps reminding me that Cinderella's gloves were blue she loves these just as much (she even wore them to dance class).

Tinkerbell and Beckett (she kept calling me Ariel even though I was not wearing her dress and yes she did ask me to put it on)

Just look at that mischievous face and Beck's sweet sweet smile

Beck's legs are constantly moving/kicking

I was around the corner and heard a noise that sounded like the poms poms K was playing with. Knowing Beck was nearby and Kendal was next to me I turned the corner and found this...

Build-A-Bear

Happy 4th Birthday Royce! For the party we met at Build-A-Bear so the kids could build a bear. It was so cute to see all the kids pick out their animals, clothes and accessories, what fun! Thank you Davis family!!!

Birthday boy and Kendal

Kendal picked out a black bear and for the clothes, Ariel. That's right bikini top, mermaid skirt and wig (we decided the bear needs to take her wig off so K could sleep with it)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beck got himself stuck in the stroller...just a few times.

Patiently waiting for his sister (awe, his poor eye)

Saturday/Sunday

On Saturday we took the kids to the mall to ride the merry-go-round. In anticipation for the ride Kendal was telling me about all the animals that were on MGR she said, "and they have horses, and lions and elephants." "They do," I said with enthusiasm. "You know that," she replied. The bonus, however, was the train they temporarily set up that drove around part of the mall. Kendal said, "they don't have train tracks here but in Tucson they do (in Tucson the train goes on a track)." We got major parent points that day unfortunately Kendal forgot how awesome we are.

Even the rain didn't stop us from hitting Dunkin' Doughnuts!

A night out

Saturday night we went to dinner with Sam and Michele, it was weird having a quiet dinner with adult conversation (or any conversation for that matter).

Friends

Here are a few pictures from last week...

Beck was trying to get closer to Kendal, he's totally excited but she's a little apprehensive

Bootie up, still going the wrong way

Last week we hooked up with Reagan and Royce to play. The kids had a great time and we had zero issues making for successful playdates.

The flirting starts so young, Heeeey...

Isn't Reagan ADORABLE?!?!

Ms. Michele got Kendal and Reagan matching outfits, this is the best picture I got..ha.

A picture is worth a 1,000 words, this just sums it up.
Kendal - tired - typical
Reagan - skeptical - why are they making me sit here for so long?
Royce - ready for the picture to be taken - smiling just like we asked

Brown Bear Brown Bear

In Kendal's class they have a project where a bear visits each kid in class. The child is sent home with a backpack containing a bear, crayons, the book, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See and a camera. The point of the visit is to read the book and reinforce to your kids how pictures can help describe a story. Each parent is supposed to read the book, travel with the bear, take a picture of what the bear is doing, then you write about it and draw a picture. The book is passed to each child and that kid's picture is added to the book the class makes. Kendal was first and we took it to playgroup at the park the next day. We got a picture of the bear going down the slide with friends and "resting" on the pinata (sort of random we had a pinata to begin with and for those of you who are curious it was left over from a birthday party that got rained out).

Here she is getting it ready to take back to school.

Here is Brown Bear and the front side of the sheet. Kendal first drew a snake on the page so mommy had to help with the drawing part. I have to admit I first drew Kendal on the swings with the bear (since it was easier for me to illustrate) but she caught me and said, "we didn't go on the swings today."

Kendal connected her dots to write her name and colored in what mommy drew. Even though I was sitting next to her - didn't she do well with staying in the lines?! If you click on the picture it will automatically zoom it in for you. No need to comment on the pencil drawing that mommy drew, ha. FYI - Kendal chose to color her dress blue because Cinderella wears a blue dress.

Happy Birthday Aunt LaLa!!!

Happy Birthday Aunt LaLa, we hope you had a great day...we love you!!! Kendal enjoyed making you a sign, she even drew a snake on it and her handprint by herself, it is quite something. What's harder is getting the two of them in the picture, both willing (well, Becks is still pretty stationary forget any pictures together in two months and beyond) and both smiling.

And here is what happend after I took the picture - wait for it, wait for it....
