Brown Bear Brown Bear

In Kendal's class they have a project where a bear visits each kid in class. The child is sent home with a backpack containing a bear, crayons, the book, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See and a camera. The point of the visit is to read the book and reinforce to your kids how pictures can help describe a story. Each parent is supposed to read the book, travel with the bear, take a picture of what the bear is doing, then you write about it and draw a picture. The book is passed to each child and that kid's picture is added to the book the class makes. Kendal was first and we took it to playgroup at the park the next day. We got a picture of the bear going down the slide with friends and "resting" on the pinata (sort of random we had a pinata to begin with and for those of you who are curious it was left over from a birthday party that got rained out).

Here she is getting it ready to take back to school.

Here is Brown Bear and the front side of the sheet. Kendal first drew a snake on the page so mommy had to help with the drawing part. I have to admit I first drew Kendal on the swings with the bear (since it was easier for me to illustrate) but she caught me and said, "we didn't go on the swings today."

Kendal connected her dots to write her name and colored in what mommy drew. Even though I was sitting next to her - didn't she do well with staying in the lines?! If you click on the picture it will automatically zoom it in for you. No need to comment on the pencil drawing that mommy drew, ha. FYI - Kendal chose to color her dress blue because Cinderella wears a blue dress.

way to go Kendal! You've set the bar pretty high for those other kids!

You both did very well on drawing and coloring. If I were the teacher you would both get gold stars!
