2010 Boys Only Golf Trip

Brian here... I know I am stating the obvious, but my wife is freaking awesome. My annual golf trip with an impressive group of fine upstanding gentlemen happened to come this year when Michelle was 8.5 months pregnant, Kendal demands that you "be a horsey" at least 35 times a day, and Beckett is out of control trying to run everywhere and break everything. So the fact that Michelle still thinks it's important for me to have "guy time" is pretty sweet.

So myself, Chase, Woody, Garrison, Gregory, both Groats, and Whitmire headed to Alabama to enjoy the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. As you can imagine with this crew, we had a ridiculously good time.

Because we had 8 players this year, Gregory decided we would play in a Ryder Cup format. Team points were awarded for each match, and each round was a different format. To enhance the experience this year, points were also awarded for the best mustaches. We all showed up with some serious lip hair. Here is our official logo for this year's trip...

Team Old Gold holding our 1st place trophy. The losing team dubbed us "Team Sandbaggers" because Chase and I are the only two who don't carry official USGA handicaps and were given a few too many strokes in some peoples opinion. No matter what the second place team thinks, I was extremely proud of my team... we hit a few good golf shots, and our Cookie Dusters were legit...

Very happy with my setup here... club parallel, solid arm position, full shoulder turn... and I happened to birdie this hole! Couldn't resist publishing this photo for the world to see. Ummmm, or at least for the 7 people who read this blog to see...

We wanted to step things up this year to really penalize those who didn't reach the ladies tees with their first shot. This is what we came up with...

These panties will never be the same...

We enjoyed a great dinner at legendary Dreamland BBQ in downtown Birmingham. You can decorate a to-go box that they leave for future visitors to see. We made sure that ours included a Flying T and a mustache...

Of course any trip like this had to include a late night hunt for Whataburger. This part of our weekend made me think of college more than any other. Garrison was nice enough to wake up just for this photo...

Can't wait until next year!!!! FOOOOORRRRREEEEEEEE!!!!!!
